In this book, you will find a variety of drawings exploring the theme of women’s feet and shoes.
All the drawings have this clean hardline look; they are vector files: pictures made on a computer using the old software, Freehand. To make them, I first drew on paper and then redrew using Freehand.
The women I try to portray here are aware of the power of their beauty and femininity, and they embrace that power rather than hide it or fear it; they are strong, sometimes sexy and flirty, and often funny. They wear everything from high heels to flat gladiator sandals, and channel everything from inner princess, to sexy pin-up to modern urban warrior.
I’ve been drawing women’s feet for a long time; I did two art shows with this theme: “Stealing feet” and “NY downtown train” and also edited two books - “New York Feet” and “Passepartout, the cat.” But, recently, looking through my computer archive, I found all these vector files that had never been published before. They date from 2000 to 2018, they were revised and finally organized in this book.
I hope you enjoy it.
